Cobalt porphyrin electrode films for electrocatalytic water oxidation.
Catalysts play very important roles in artificial photosynthesis for solar energy conversion. In this present study, two water-insoluble cobalt porphyrin complexes, cobalt(II) meso-tetraphenylporphyrin (CoP-1) and cobalt(II) 5,10,15,20-tetrakis-(4-bromophenyl)porphyrin (CoP-2), were synthesized and coated as thin films on the FTO working electrode. The films showed good activities for electroca...
متن کاملInterrogation of electrocatalytic water oxidation mediated by a cobalt complex.
Examination of the aqueous electrochemistry of a Co(II) complex bearing a pentadentate ligand suggests that the catalytic current corresponding to water oxidation is molecular in origin, and does not emanate exclusively from Co-oxide phases formed in situ.
متن کاملElectrocatalytic water oxidation by a molecular cobalt complex through a high valent cobalt oxo intermediate.
Biuret-modified tetraamidomacrocyclic cobalt complex [CoIII-bTAML]- is shown to catalyze electrochemical water oxidation at basic pH leading to the formation of O2. Electrochemical and spectroscopic studies indicate a high valent cobalt oxo intermediate isoelectronic to CoV(O) as the active oxidant. The kinetic isotope effect of 8.63 indicates an atom proton transfer mechanism.
متن کاملElectrocatalytic Oxidation of Cyanide on Copper-doped Cobalt Oxide Electrodes
Copper and copper oxides are well-known excellent catalysts in several chemical processes, but their low mechanical and electrochemical stability restrict their direct utilization as electrodes in electrolytic processes. In this work, the incorporation of copper into cobalt oxide (CuxCo3-xO4) is presented as an excellent approach to obtain highly active and robust copper-based electrocatalysts....
متن کاملElectrocatalytic hydrogen evolution in acidic water with molecular cobalt tetraazamacrocycles.
A series of water-soluble molecular cobalt complexes of tetraazamacrocyclic ligands are reported for the electrocatalytic production of H(2) from pH 2.2 aqueous solutions. The comparative data reported for this family of complexes shed light on their relative efficiencies for hydrogen evolution in water. Rotating disk electrode voltammetry data are presented for each of the complexes discussed,...
